I bore myself to you, and to you I swore
I gave you what I’ve never given any before
I showed you that secret, special part of me
The part that I hide, my vulnerability
I was confused, I still don’t understand
How did I end up falling for that man?
So long ago, the tables were turned
And after all this time, you’d think I’d have learned
I told you, I asked you, I gave you what I had
I did all I could to change a fate gone so bad
But I understood when you told me you were unsure
How could I expect you to return to her
The girl who stomped on your heart and left you to die
Emotionally crippled, without asking why
And now I’m back, wanting a chance
Without considering your circumstance
You asked for time, I gave that to you
And now, days later I cannot undo
The path I set myself on since then
Since which, to me, you have not spoken
I need a word, a sign I was right
To take my first step, to fight my first fight
And now, after many an empty day
I found out what it is that caused this delay
She loves you too, and it’s quite alright
How can I blame her for sleepless nights
As she lays awake, just as I do
Waiting and wondering, thinking of you
The truth is, I can’t pretend it’s wrong
For you to find the place you truly belong
She is kind, and you have never been harmed
As you were with this naïve girl you once charmed
What should I say, sweet boy of my dreams
As sorry as I am, and as hard as it seems
I once cared for you deeper than I had any one
And now I realize that all is over and done
Now I am unsure as to what to do,
To let go of him, and pay what is due
For now I realize, the price to pay
For the hurt I have caused you is a love gone away
For never will you love me again
With the passion and fervour of hundreds of men
I’m sorry, sweet boy, for realizing so late
That I loved you; but now this is our fate
You’re done with me, now you’ve taken flight
You’ve spread your wings and flown far out of sight
Now I realize what is undeniably true
This heartless fool doesn’t deserve you

Longing - a poem
One of my stranger poems.
I wrote this for someone special.
The shadow of a promise
Hangs over me, sometimes a warmth
Sometimes a cloud, mutable, changeable
Absent, but present in shards of memories
A forgotten spirit weaving its way back into my thoughts
I have dim awareness of you
Then, I am struck by a light, a sun ignites
Then, you are gone. You leave behind an echo
Empty but recalling something greater
Something of an inspiration, a deep breath
A plunge, being enveloped by the life giving coolness,
the bright stillness where I am at home.
Come to me, in all my imperfection,
Come to me, be with me
Let’s defy gravity, let’s break through
I am liberated with you
Bring me to your world.
Overpowered by nature, miniscule in comparison
Eclipsed, but finally at rest. At peace.
